In an emergency, call 000 first
WatchN alerts your trusted group — it does not contact emergency services and is not a substitute for them. If there is a threat to life or property, call Triple Zero (000), then alert your group.

Getting started
I've been given an invite code. What do I do?
- Install WatchN from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in with Google or Apple.
- Enter your invite code and tap Join Group.
- When prompted for notifications, tap Allow. On iPhone also allow Critical Alerts — this is what lets an emergency alert break through Do Not Disturb.
Members never pay anything. Your group's manager holds the licence.
I want to start a group. How do I become a manager?
- Go to the manager portal and sign in with Google.
- Choose a plan and the number of seats you need, then pay via Stripe.
- Name your group. Community groups also choose their area on a map.
- Create an invite code and share it with your members.
Install the app on your own phone and sign in with the same Google account you used for the portal.
Why does a community group have to pick an area on a map?
So we can put local people in touch with you. If someone in your area contacts us genuinely wanting to join a group, we may pass the enquiry to you as the manager. It is then entirely your decision whether to contact them and onboard them, under your own pricing and onboarding rules.
We record only a coarse area — roughly a 5 km square — never an address or exact location, and we never share your details with the enquirer. Family groups are never listed or offered this way; they stay private.
What should we do straight after setting up?
Run one test alert so every member hears the alarm once and knows what it sounds like, then resolve it from the portal. It's the single best thing you can do to make the real one work.
Licences and seats
How does pricing work?
Licences are sold in packs of 10 seats. One seat is one member. Members are always free — the manager holds the licence for the group. See pricing for current rates.
My group is full. How do I add seats?
In the portal, open your group and use Add seats. Seats are added in packs of 10, and Stripe charges only the prorated remainder of your current billing period — you are not charged a full period again.
A single group can hold up to 100 seats (10 packs).
Can I switch between monthly and annual?
Yes. Open Manage billing in the portal — that opens Stripe's secure customer portal, where you can change your plan, update your card, download invoices or cancel. Changes are prorated automatically.
Can I move up from Family to Community?
Yes. Add seats to your existing licence in the portal — a Family licence with more than one seat pack works exactly like a Community one. If you'd rather start a separate group instead, buy a second licence and create another group.
Note that Community groups can opt into local area enquiries; Family groups stay private. Email helpdesk@nwatch.com.au if you want an existing group's area listed after upgrading.
I run two streets. Do I need two licences?
Yes — one licence covers one group. Buy a second licence in the portal and create another group. You can manage both from the same account.
Why is a group limited to 100 people?
Because of who an alert wakes. One hundred is the size we have tested the alert fan-out at, and every extra person in a group is another phone that sounds when anyone in it raises an alarm.
A neighbourhood of 400 is usually better as four groups of 100 — each street gets the alerts that concern it, and a Rose Street emergency doesn't wake Hill Street at 3am. Managers can run as many groups as they need from one portal account.
Some places genuinely are one community: a single apartment tower with one building manager, or a campus. If that's you, open your group in the portal, and where it tells you about the limit choose ask us about a larger group. Tell us how many seats and why it needs to be one group — we read every one and reply.
We're a council or strata body. Can we run several groups?
Yes. One licence covers one group — one street, one building, one precinct — and an organisation can hold as many as it needs. Members and invite codes never cross between groups, which is the point: a Rose Street alert should not wake Hill Street.
For more than a handful of groups we set up an enterprise account: you tell us how many groups and how many seats each, we invoice you or work to your purchase order, and your nominated contact runs the whole thing from the ordinary manager portal. There is no separate system to learn and no card required.
Your contact sees a banner showing how many groups the plan covers and how many are left to set up, and creates each one themselves. If that person leaves, we move the account to a colleague and the groups appear on their next sign-in.
To get started, email helpdesk@nwatch.com.au with roughly how many groups and members you expect. We'll come back with pricing and have you set up the same week.
What will appear on my bank statement?
RME SOLUTIONS. RME Solutions Technology is the Australian company behind WatchN — it is the same business, not a third party.
Payments are processed by Stripe, so your emailed receipt comes from Stripe on our behalf and will also carry the RME Solutions name. We never see or store your card details.
If a charge looks unfamiliar, please email helpdesk@nwatch.com.au before disputing it with your bank — we can identify it straight away, and a dispute cancels the licence, which stops your group being able to raise alerts.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Email helpdesk@nwatch.com.au and tell us what happened. If WatchN is not doing what we said it would, you are entitled to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law, and those rights are in addition to anything below.
Beyond that: if you have just bought a licence and have not yet set your group up, we will refund it in full. If you are part-way through a paid period and want to stop, cancel in the portal — your group keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for, and nothing further is charged.
Refunds are returned to the original card by Stripe and usually appear within five to ten business days.
What happens if my payment fails or I cancel?
If a renewal fails, the portal shows a notice and Stripe retries automatically — update your card under Manage billing.
Your group keeps working for 14 days after a licence lapses. This is an emergency system, so we do not switch the alert button off the moment a card expires. A notice appears in the manager portal, and Stripe emails you directly about the failed payment. After 14 days, members cannot raise alerts until the licence is renewed.
Check the portal if you are unsure. WatchN itself does not send email yet — billing email comes from Stripe — so the portal notice is the authoritative view of your licence.
If you cancel, your group keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for. Your group, members and settings are kept either way, so renewing restores everything.
Alerts and notifications
An alert didn't make a sound. What went wrong?
Almost always a notification permission. Check, in order:
- iPhone: Settings → Notifications → WatchN → allow notifications, and make sure Critical Alerts is on. Critical Alerts is what bypasses silent mode and Focus.
- Android: Settings → Apps → WatchN → Notifications → allow, and confirm the alarm channel is not muted. Also check battery optimisation isn't restricting the app.
- Confirm the member appears as active in the manager portal — paused members don't receive alerts.
Run a test alert after changing any of these.
Will alerts come through on silent or Do Not Disturb?
That's the point of the product — yes, provided the permissions above are granted. On iPhone this requires Critical Alerts; on Android it uses a dedicated alarm channel. Ordinary chat apps cannot do this.
How do I stop an alert once it's resolved?
In the portal, open the incident and choose Resolve & notify. That tells every member's phone to stand down. Resolving silently closes the incident without notifying anyone — useful for tests and duplicates.
Managing members
What's the difference between pausing and removing someone?
- Pause temporarily stops a member sending or receiving alerts. Their seat stays reserved — useful if a child has been testing the button.
- Remove takes them out of the group and frees their seat for someone else.
Someone lost their phone or changed accounts.
Have them sign in on the new device with the same Google or Apple account and the group will reappear. If they've changed account entirely, remove the old member in the portal to free the seat and issue a fresh invite code.
Privacy and data
What can you see?
Alert contents and any location shared with an alert are end-to-end encrypted — they are encrypted for the recipients before they leave the sender's phone, so we cannot read them. We hold the minimum needed to run the service: your account identity, group membership, and billing records held by Stripe.
See the privacy policy for detail.
How do I delete my account and data?
Email helpdesk@nwatch.com.au from the address on the account and we'll remove it. Managers: cancel the subscription in Manage billing first, otherwise it keeps renewing.
Still stuck?
Talk to a person
Tell us your group name and what you're seeing — including the phone model and OS version if it's an alert problem. That usually gets it solved first reply.
